Babymoon

Well, we are back from our amazingly perfect babymoon in Moorea, Tahiti. We had such an amazing time. This was our second time to Moorea and equally as beautiful and perfect. It was a very relaxing vacation. We didn't really explore the island, except for a very long walk to Cook's Bay, but mainly snorkeled with the fish and relaxed in our own private mini pool. That's right our own private mini pool. Upon getting to the hotel they upgraded our room and we ended up with our own bungalow and private backyard complete with pool. I can't say enough what an amazing vacation this was and a perfect last getaway together before baby comes.

This is really the only picture of the two of us. The water was so beautiful, this picture doesn't begin to show it.

The first couple of days we were there it rained. Luckily they gave us some lovely and broken blue umbrellas so we could go walking.

This is Cook's Bay about 3 kilometers (roughly 2 miles) from our hotel. This walk took us about 2 1/2 hours round trip, partly (okay all) because on the way back my body seriously gave out, Baby was not happy and was pushing on my tummy, I was walking at a snails pace.

The story: On our walk to Cooks Bay Justin saw this palm tree jetting out of the ground sideways. He decided it would be cool to climb the palm tree and hang out over the water. Keep in mind it had been raining all day so everything, including this palm tree, was wet and slippery. Enter my brilliant idea of him climbing the tree like a monkey, on all fours. I unfortunately turned the camera off, waiting for him to reach the end of the palm tree (he never made it).

Once his hands hit the tree he flipped over (insert laughing hysterically) and right into the water.

No more climbing of the palm tree, and one very wet husband (again insert hysterical laughing).

Our mini pool. Again it was raining the first couple days and there was no way I was waisting a mini pool. So with hot tea in hand (very cold pool) and rain pouring on my head, I jumped in and I froze, but no wasted mini pool usage here.

The last time Justin and I were in Moorea, we kayaked everyday. So when I saw saw kayaks I was thrilled. These were double kayaks so we climbed in and attempted to paddle out together. This did not work out so well because Justin wouldn't listen to my instructions (after all I am a kayak expert). So I put my paddle down, relaxed with my feet up and gave directions instead. Justin paddled us all over the ocean (we won't talk about when it was my turn to paddle us, then again it lasted all of 30 sec.).

After sunburning ourselves the day before we decided it would be a great idea to lay out in the sun, further frying our skin and frying the baby.

Justin making proper use out of the mini pool. Relaxing in the cool water on a hot sunny day with a somewhat cold Hinano (not so good Tahitian beer).

Relaxing on the dock after swimming in the ocean with the fish. The snorkeling here was amazing, it was like we were in an aquarium. So many colorful tropical fish and the coral was within arms reach. I loved it!

Adjustable carryall

Me and sewing haven't been getting along lately. I am blaming the baby and so called "pregnancy brain." My mom asked me to make her some of my reusable grocery bags for x-mas gifts, me thinking no problem these are easy and fast to whip up ran out to the fabric store, bought enough fabric for 4 different bags and headed home. Of course when I go to lay out my pattern piece I notice I needed 3/4 yards of fabric not 1/2. AHHHAHHHHH! No problem, I'll just find another bag pattern that closes up nice and small and only uses 1/2 yard. Believe it or not I found one, thank you u-handbag! So I set out to make my new bag only to finish and see just how big this bag is, it is huge. Of course my creative husband suggests I add side ties and rivets like on my beach bag so that it can be made smaller. Great idea, but more work. With all the kinks worked out, I set out to make the four bags, deciding to cut all the fabric first. What a brilliant idea. (I have to pause here, I am still so mad at myself, breath, breath). After happily cutting 2 complete bags out (4 sides) I open them up to find out I traced and cut the pattern upside down (insert crying). After a week of not looking at the sewing machine, thinking about the sewing machine, and finally another trip back to the fabric store, I have finished the bags. So my friends this is the new adjustable carryall, complete with handy dandy pocket to fold it up in.

Yes this fabric is upside down, to expensive to buy more, call it artistic interpretation.

This bag seriously holds so much stuff. I could have even fit more things in, but decided I didn't need to empty out my whole cupboard.
